Travel is my Jam
It's easy to say this because who doesn't like travel, right? But, travel gives us a window into the world we wouldn't otherwise experience. The people, the food, the places and cultures. For me, it gives my soul a break from deep-felt pangs of wanderlust. I find it healing, rejuvenating, sometimes complicated but always life altering. It instills wonder, curiosity and a deeper connection with a bigger world beyond my own.
While I'm reluctant to get the word out about many of the places I've enjoyed (for fear of spoiling), I know I need to for the sake of their businesses. These places and people aren't fancy. I feel like you can find dozens of listings and reviews on the most "notable" hotels and restaurants in any city. But, these are a few of the places I've been that are generally small boutique offerings with modern amenities, delicious food and the friendliest of staff. Enjoy and share your tips!
New Castle, New Hampshire, USA
A blogger who shares food and travel inspo from Italy. Hosts lovely tours with her daughter Sophie.
Lake Como
Borgo le Terrazze - tidy hotel just outside Bellagio with big breakfast and breathtaking lake views.
Rome
Dinner & Pizza: Roscioli
Coffee/Bakery: Forno Monteforte
Gelato: Ciampini
Sites: Palazzo Colonna & Sistine Chapel
Eating Rome
Hand's down one of the best things I did while in Rome for food and fun is this food tour of Trastevere.
Paros
Stelia Mare - quaint hotel in Naoussa with beautiful pool, fresh breakfast and the most accommodating staff.
Montreux
La Rouvenaz - small, modern hotel with light breakfast and friendly staff. For something special, Hotel des Trois Couronnes.
Barcelona
Hotel 1898 best roofdeck and staff. H10 Madison is newer and less crowded. Eat brekkie outside at Bar Lobo; drinks Boca Chica and din/tapas at El Salon and Vinitus.
Miami
I love the new Blue Lavender Cafe and adjacent Nassau Suites. Spa vibes and super friendly staff.
New Hampshire
Wentworth by the Sea is celebrating its 150-year anniversary this year. Bigger hotel but a bit more off-the-radar than most of coastal New England.
Richmond, Virginia
Sugar & Twine bakery and Stella's, the original one, for din. Seriously best Greek food we've had here.
Washington, DC
Founding Farmers, Tatte, North Italia, Thunder Burger and historic Martin's Tavern. All good and reasonable for DC.
Boston
See a Celtics Game. Go to Sofra and grab a slice of za at Pinocchio's in Cambridge. Don't miss the ISG and MFA.
